We have turned democracy into a farce

Not since high school have I felt patriotism and never since understood it. I find U.S. politics horrific and the GOP to be a tribe of corruption. But I find the British Monarchy a ridiculous mockery of autocracy, form with no substance, a colossal waste. On the whole, I've become a pessimist-realist concerning humanity as we continue our wars, elect corrupt fools, and trash the planet. And we have the nerve to believe in an absurd heaven of angels floating over streets of gold. LOL.

Trump, Clarence Thomas, George Santos, Kevin McCarthy, religious Mike Pence, a ship of fools who are leading our country, who are damning Democrats who mean well, but haven't the wherewithal to deal,  much less the ability to put the corrupt Republicans in their place.

Sad Charles III, looking altogether lost with his wife in a hall of, an anachronism of, so-called aristocrats, strutting the stage. His crown, his ermine hat, bejeweled, always threatening to fall right off his head. He is clutching a few modern ideas like fighting climate catastrophe, and praising diversity. So much money fueling this pageantry. Most of England no longer wants it.

The rest of the world fares even worse: endless wars, endless pollution, endless births of babies of false hope, babies who will face and suffer the horrors yet to unfold. Sad beyond words.

I am grateful for my life, and for my loves, and I am ever ready for the release we are all so sure of. I have had some very good decades, maybe even one more. My friends, I wish the same for you.
